Happy June friends! The kids are out of school, the watermelon is cut and the beach is calling! Summer is in full swing!
We know that phrase Keeping Up With The Joneses. Why do we play the game of comparison in life? Why do we care about the type of car we drive, the house we live in, the purse we carry or the toxic relationships we continue to entertain?
Are you living above your means? Is a lavish lifestyle keeping you in debt or living paycheck to paycheck? Do I like nice things…of course…is it bad to want nice things…not at all! People and the world have a way of showing their success and status through the importance of material things.
Why can’t we be content with what we have? To me contentment is a peaceful mindset that allows us to live each day with a sense of enjoyment, happiness and gratitude.
First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” And if I am too poor I may steal and thus will insult God’s holy name.
-Proverbs 30:8-9
How do I find contentment?
- I thank God daily for all that I have. When God calls us home, we can’t take it with us.
- I decide if it’s a need or want; if it’s a want I make sure we have the money to get it.
- Enjoy the little things in life. Live simply…it’s so much easier!
- Don’t sweat the small stuff! Who cares what others think…they have their own life to live.
- Live in the moment. Make your time on earth count…tomorrow isn’t promised!
If you are struggling with your mindset; I encourage you to journal your thoughts daily or every other day to help you find this state of peace, comfort, joy and contentment. God has a beautiful plan for each one of us and if we look to him for direction and ask for his wisdom and guidance he will provide it.
This summer wear your sunscreen, make memories and know that I am here to talk, listen and lift you up in prayer.
❤️YOU ARE ENOUGH❤️
God Bless,
Amy
