Why are we our worst critic? Why is it easy to give others advice, but we can’t take our own? Why can’t we get out of that funk that seems to last forever? I don’t know about you, but taking time to work on me is very difficult. Life is busy; things happen and most of us feel guilty when we take time for ourselves. A lot of times we find our identity in being a parent, a spouse, our career, taking care of an elderly parent or another circumstance. In order for us to be our best self, we must make ourselves a priority.
The Top 5 things to help me become my best self:
1. Put God #1 in your life… Open up your Bible and find a devotional you enjoy….every morning I grab my pen, Bible and a cup of coffee. This is my favorite time of day!
2. Self care… Do something for you! Two times a week I plug in my facial steamer and follow with a detox mask. The facial steamer is so relaxing! I love time with my husband and fur babies, but also value me time!
3. Get rid of all toxicity…. If it isn’t uplifting and adding value to your life….drop it…it serves no purpose…yes, this includes relationships with family members. Also, don’t compare yourself to anyone. Comparison is the thief of joy! Your journey is unique!
4. Set boundaries … Saying no is a challenge for me, but I have learned it doesn’t make me less compassionate; it lets me exercise the wisdom God has given me to protect myself and family.
5. Have an attitude of joy and gratitude… You determine your outcome and you are not your circumstances!
In order for me to be my best…I have to wake up each day and ask God for guidance. Showing myself love and kindness with a touch of grace, allows me to follow my calling to help others see they are enough!
